Though spring has had some false starts, winter is (hopefully) behind us, which means it’s time to start getting ready for spring thunderstorms and summer heat. Chad Muth, the owner of Muth & Company Roofing, has some helpful tips to assist you in getting your home on the right track now – so you’ll have more time to enjoy the fresh air and warm spring weather later!
Start With an Inspection
Roofs and gutters often take a beating during the harsh winter months, so it’s important to have them inspected before severe storms hit. Clean out the gutters, re-nail loose gutter spikes, and check for clogged downspouts.

Other Spring To-Do’s
While the previous tough and sometimes dangerous roofing-related tasks are best left to a professional, the rest of Chad’s tips are all DIY, so get out there and get them done so you’ll have an impeccable home and lawn this spring and summer.

Give the windows some attention. Take down the window screens, give them a good cleaning, and put them back after thoroughly cleaning the window glass and frame.

Inspect the lighting. Check all of your outside lights, including porch lights and floodlights, and replace any bulbs that are burned out.

Give your lawn mower a tune-up. Before mowing for the first time, replace the spark plugs and sharpen the lawn mower blades to ensure a clean cut.

Put down some pre-emergent. Kill those pesky weeds before they have a chance to sprout by using a pre-emergent herbicide on your grass. Everybody loves a lush lawn, so don’t put it off!
