YouthBuild Columbus House Restoration Project Unveiling

Columbus home new roof

Over 30 YouthBuild Columbus students are part of a house restoration project in the Columbus, OH neighborhood of Linden.

Over the course of two school years, the YouthBuild Columbus house restoration project is a complete restoration of the house. This includes work from the front and back porches, electric, plumbing, HVAC, doors, windows, walls and floors, all to the new roof.

Muth and Company Roofing was offered the opportunity to help them on this project, by providing the materials needed for a roof replacement.

“We, as a company, are proud to be a part of this house restoration project,” stated Chad Muth. “This is a great opportunity for us to work with YouthBuild Columbus and their students, as they give back to their community.

We are looking forward to participating in their future hiring events as well.”

Youthbuild Columbus Linden House Restoration Invitation

The unveiling of the Kohr Place residence, which has been dubbed “Luck O’ Linden,” takes place March 17th, 2020.  The community is welcome to attend and see the finished house.  Other partners on this house restoration include Settle Muter Electric and G Mechanical Heating and Cooling.

YouthBuild Columbus is a metro high school, offering career technical programs for students between the ages of 16 to 21.

In the end, these students are working towards a high school diploma, while learning residential construction or nurse assisting skills.

Programs at YouthBuild Columbus are providing those pathways by unleashing the positive energy of low-income young people. They are rebuilding their communities and their lives.  And most importantly, breaking the cycle of poverty with a commitment to work, education, community, and family.

What does the future hold for the next house restoration project?

With the success of this project, YouthBuild Columbus is purchasing another house to restore, according to Dave King, Construction Instructor at YouthBuild Columbus. The purchase of house is thanks to a grant from the Department of Labor.

Muth and Company Roofing will continue to follow the students as their work progresses on this new restoration.
