Roof Replacement Prep Checklist
How to Prepare Your Home Before Roof Installation
Protect Fragile Items
Roof replacement creates normal vibrations throughout your home. Removing pictures, mirrors, and other fragile wall décor before installation helps prevent accidental damage.
Clear the Area Around Your Home
Move patio furniture, grills, planters, decorations, and other belongings away from the exterior of your home. This provides our roofing crews with safe access to every side of the house.
Move Your Vehicles
Please remove vehicles from your garage and driveway before we arrive. A dumpster will be placed near your home during the project, and moving vehicles beforehand helps prevent them from being blocked or exposed to dust and debris.
Prepare Your Yard
A freshly mowed lawn makes it easier for our crews to remove nails and roofing debris during cleanup. We also ask that pet waste be cleaned up before installation begins.
Protect Your Attic
Some dust or small debris may enter the attic during roof replacement. Covering stored valuables with plastic sheeting provides extra protection.
Special Requests
If you have pets, young children, accessibility concerns, or other special requests, please let us know before installation. We're happy to work with you whenever possible.
What to Expect When Installation Starts
Our roofing crews arrive on schedule and begin preparing your property before removing the existing roof.
As work progresses, the jobsite may temporarily appear messy during the tear-off phase, but our crews continuously clean while they work and perform a thorough cleanup before the project is complete.
Some residential roof replacements are completed in a single day. If your project requires additional time that will be communicated ahead of the start of the project and we'll properly protect your home with tarps.
Our Quality Control Supervisor helps ensure your new roof meets Muth's high standards for quality and craftsmanship.
