The state has returned to a traditional three-day back-to-school format covering specific clothing and school items rather than the longer, expanded multi-week holidays seen in recent years. Backpacks
Well-fitted and supportive backpack. A well-fitted backpack is important to the healthy development of posture, bone, and muscle growth. Opt for a bag with multiple compartments, too — they’ll hold items securely while better-distributing weight. Finally, choose a backpack with reflective material so your child is more visible to drivers during the early morning darkness.

What’s The Cost of Back to School Items?
Total back-to-school spending in 2026 is projected to hit an all-time record high of $43.3 billion for K-12 students, while college-related spending is expected to reach $103.5 billion. According to the National Retail Federation (NRF), families are experiencing increased costs across almost all categories due to persistent supply-side inflation.
Today teachers are very sensitive to the fact that having the right school supplies can immeasurably help students’ organization and preparation. They also can provide comfort and a sense of stability. This boosts students’ confidence.
Having your very own supplies also can be a source of pride and independence.
According to Kids in Need Foundation (KINF), teachers report that supplies positively impact their ability to create a more equitable learning environment. This will meet all students’ educational needs, take the focus away from needed supplies, and increase classroom participation!
