As part of our “Give Where You Live” initiative, this week we’re highlighting the efforts of SidebySide Outreach, a faith-based partnership between local churches and organizations to serve our local neighbors in need.

Neighbors Helping Neighbors

The organizations involved in SidebySide Outreach include Helping Hands of Harlem Township, Harlem Road United Methodist Church, Church of the Saviour UMC, Galena UMC, New Albany Church of the Resurrection and Harlem Township Helping Hands. These groups pool their money and resources to minister to those in need in the Big Walnut area, particularly in the Westerville Estates Mobile Home Park.

During November, SidebySide members distributed Thanksgiving meals to 21 of our neighbor families. Each month since August, they have sponsored a Free Fresh Produce Give-Away that has reached hundreds of local families. The group also supports a job creation program, provides school supplies and clothing, offers homework help for children and youth, and provides other service as needs arise.

How You Can Help

SidebySide Outreach is especially busy during the holiday season, a time when many neighbors are in greater need due to holiday expenses and higher utility bills. The group will again be sponsoring children and families at Christmas and providing Christmas dinner for 41 families. SidebySide Outreach is accepting donations of money and food to help neighbors through the Christmas season and the upcoming winter. The food drive collection will take place December 18th.

Muth & Company is excited to be donating turkeys and miscellaneous food items for the Christmas food drive. If you would like to join us by donating or volunteering, email judysharpekos@insight.rr.com or call (614) 565-3395.
